Yum yum…Healthy Sandwiches!0
This half term we have been thinking about how to keep healthy. One of the things we need to do to stay healthy is eat a healthy balanced diet, using the food pyramid.
We decided that a sandwich can be healthy as it can contain a food from each food group.
First we made a model of our favourite sandwich from soft stuff. Here’s Jordan with his favourite cheese, tomato and cucumber sandwich!
We then tasted five different types of bread: soft white rolls, white sliced bread, wholemeal sliced bread, pitta bread and tortilla wraps. Matthew’s favourite was wholemeal bread!
We used everything we had learnt about the food groups to design a healthy sandwich.
Finally the fun could begin…we could make our sandwiches following our designs. Lauryn made a cheese, ham and cucumber tortilla wrap. She became frustrated because the wrap kept unrolling!
Our sandwich making day was excellent because we got to eat our healthy food!
